Docent-led bird/nature walk at the Ellis Creek Water Recycling Facility ponds. Meet in the parking lot on the left, immediately inside the entrance gates at the end of Cypress Drive. Rain cancels. Contact Gerald Moore, 763-3577.
In addition, we also arrange special planting/weeding days for specific groups, such as boy scouts, schoolchildren, local businesses, and the community. Our goals are to replace the most invasive species, like thistles and pepperweed, with native plants to improve the habitats for wildlife.
We usually meet at Kiosk #1, just inside the gate of Shollenberger Park. In the winter months, we plant and/or weed 9:00 to Noon; in the summer months, we water and/or weed 8:00 to 11:00 AM. Rain cancels. These restoration days are open to all, and we encourage you to join us. Sonoma County Supervisors' final vote on the Dutra asphalt plant will be scheduled in September or October 2010, Sonoma County Supervisors' meeting room, 575 Administration Dr, Suite 100A, Santa Rosa.
It is important that you join us and express your feelings about an asphalt plant being located next to an environmental asset, Shollenberger Park and the adjacent wetlands that citizens of Sonoma County and visitors alike have a right to enjoy.
